President Chandrika Kumaratunga recently met with twenty-one Child Parliamentarians who voiced the main challenges faced by the children of Sri Lanka. Four of them have left for the UN Special Session on Children in New York.
The children told the President that education was one of their biggest challenges. ‘Access to quality education’ was identified as one issue that needs a ‘priority solution’ in achieving their goal -“Education for all”. 
“It is my pleasure to see more and more children taking part in these activities voicing their ideas,” President Kumaratunga said, congratulating the Child Parliamentarians. Associated with the President were Mr. Colin Glennie, UNICEF Representative in Sri Lanka and Ms. Pauline McKeown, Programme Director, Save the Ch
